Chapter 37

Chapter 37: Chapter 37 - Checking the reward
Dante stared at the white forest, contemplating his life. He thought about his life until the tutorial.
It was not bad but he knew he wanted to do more with his life. He wanted to find himself in a grand epic journey of his lifetime.
He envisioned himself as a hero from stories.
Reality was, he was just an average college student with a shit load of trauma from family. Dante was never a fan of politics.
His father was a veteran that served as a major in a war.
Dante smiled as scenes of his younger self entered into his consciousness.
He inhaled a breath and gazed. A faint glow came through slowly and carefully. There were many flickers of lights reflecting the warmth of sunlight.
Dante knew they were going to melt after a while.
"I don’t think I will see this kind of view in real life." He said to himself, satisfied with the view.
He closed his eyes and entered into a deep meditation. He always wanted to try deep meditation. Now that he thought about it, he felt like a fraud imitating the real sage.
Wait, he was a sage.
Well, the system told him that he was a sage so he had to believe it. After all, the all knowing omnipotent system can’t be wrong.
Dante shook his head as he noticed his thoughts running away. He wanted to focus.
Contemplate Dante. Think about your journey. What did you achieve?
He sat on the ice cold wood for an hour.
He stood up as soon as he felt a pinch on his ass. He rubbed his butt and heated up with mana.
He let out a sigh.
"Coffee?" Julius arrived on top of the wall and offered him.
"Nice." Dante took the cup from his hand and sipped a hot liquid. "It is a bit heavy."
"I thought you like it heavy." Julius said.
Dante’s brows creaked as he thought. He then
remembered what Julius was talking about.
"That was a lie." Dante admitted.
"Ah ha. I knew it. I know you are trying to look cool. How dare you say I am a liar?" Julius clenched his heart as if he remembered the betrayal.
"Hehe." Dante chuckled.
He sat down again and Julius followed. They both stared at the sun and let the warmth envelop them.
"So, what are you doing?" Julius asked.
"Just meditating. Try stuff I think is fitted for sage." Dante answered. "You should try meditation as well."
"Any benefits?" Julius said. "I read some from online but can’t remember."
Dante shook his head, "I don’t know either. But it is quite good. I used this for consolidating my gains. Trying to see anything I missed."
He paused and took another sip.
"I think meditation is about contemplating that fleeting moment in which you were better than you’ve ever been before, and trying to think of a way to make that your new normal."
"That is a huge piece of advice from you. Rather sentimental of you." Julius said
"Haha. Just remember some stuff from earth. I wonder if she is fine?" Dante said.
"Aurelia?"
Dante nodded. "Yeah."
"Well, I don’t know much about her but she seems to be strong. At least mentally. I think she will do just fine." Julius patted his back.
"Are you really over her?" Julius asked.
Dante continued to stare at the sun and let out a sigh. "I don’t know. Sometimes, she is always on my mind and sometimes, she is a stranger. I broke up with her so I can’t say much about that."
"Everybody processes love differently." Julius smiled and stood up. "See ya, I want to check my rewards from the dungeon."
He jumped down and teleported away.
Dante smiled, feeling good with himself.
He opened his status, trying to see some changes in his system. To be honest, he was a bit jealous of his friend having a new tab in the system shop.
He wanted to pull out something to eat. It was truly magic in his eyes.
Name- Dante
Tier- Tier 2 human.
Bloodline- Sage beyond the end.
Skill-
External eye of the hunter (Grade-8)
Mana compression (Grade-2)
Zero-Point destruction (Grade-8)
Regenerative Heal ( Grade-2)
Dash (Grade-1)
Reaper of Nyrax ( Beginner.)
He looked through his status, checking which one he would like to focus on.
He still had one use of comprehension left from his bloodline. He was tempted to use it on the
Reaper
skill.
Fear stopped him. Nyrax was an unknown entity with a shady goal. He didn’t know if upgrading the skill would lead to something horrible.
But the skill was so good. It absorbed mana. He suspected that the high tier of this skill will give the ability to absorb stamina and many new things.
"Seriously, I don’t know I am encountering a devil in this place." Dante chuckled.
He then closed the system and checked his ring.
He focused on the ring and a wave of basic information on how to activate the ring appeared inside his head. The feeling was similar to a Deja vu which immediately went his mind in a frenzy state.
He calmed himself by cutting his hands. He slowly let out a sigh and rubbed his temple softly.
Then something pushed his throat and he bent down, throwing up the foods he just ate.
After emptying his stomach, he sat down and hugged his legs, desperately trying to stop the shaking.
"Haha." He let out a dry laugh.
Dante didn’t think, the experience inside the dungeon would effect him this much.
He noted.
No Deja vu.
After he felt calm, he looked down at the ring and muttered.
"Book."
The ring disappeared, leaving a white smoke in front of him. He waved off the smoke and saw the book levitating.
The book was similar to the one on the ring’s head. The cover was black and made from the unknown texture.
Dante grabbed the book and felt the weight of it. He looked into it and saw nothing but a blank page. He flipped the pages and the result was the same.
Puzzled by this, he closed the book.
It disappeared in the similar fashion when it first appeared.
Dante checked the black ring and nodded.
There was something about this ring that resonance with him. He felt calm staring at the ring. He rubbed the ring and called again.
"Book."
The black book appeared.
He remembered Transformation and mental as the effect of the book. He also knew that the power inside the book was sealed.
After a bit of hesitation and checking the surroundings, he placed the opened book on his face, wearing it like a mask.
To his surprised, it worked.
The book began to morph and stated warping around his face. Dante went in panic mode and tried to take off the book for some reason.
But his hands slipped through the book and landed on his flesh. It was like the book didn’t exist on this physical plane.
His
eyes
showed that it existed.
After a while, the morphing stopped. Dante founded himself wearing a mask.
"Now, I know the transformtion effect." He said to himself.
He turned his head and tried to shake off the mask. It didn’t even budge. The sensation on his face was also strange.
It was like his flesh didn’t register there was a mask. For that reason, he felt a bit of dizziness. But he knew that the dizziness would vanish after he wore it for a few times.
He then asked himself.
"What is the mental effect?"
