Chapter 49

Chapter 49: Chapter 49 - Crabs
His body was red. Experiencing a blast from a concentrated beam of water was not a good thing. It stung his skin.
His shoes were wet, each step he took brought an uncomfortable feeling inside his stomach.
Thankfully, his cloak was working its job. Removing the water but it was quite a slow process.
He sighed.
They had been non stop running after that short fight. Dante was thinking about how he could improve his fighting style. To be honest, when he looked at himself from another’s eyes he didn’t have a fixed fighting style.
He was completely dependent on the environment. He was the master of improvising.
He didn’t know if it was a good thing or not. He hadn’t experienced hardship with this.
He didn’t have any glaring weaknesses. And there was no advantage in his fighting as well.
He depended too much on luck. His Zero-Point was great and all but it was a double edge sword. What if he encountered someone who can block his skill.
What if he needed to neutralize his opponent without killing. He let out a sigh.
’I seriously need to learn how to control that.’ He muttered inwardly.
But there was no hint he could use.
He noticed Liora stopping.
He slowed down and arrived beside Shizuku. They were near the edge of the ground.
Dante walked and peered underneath.
He liked what he saw.
There were another horde of monsters underneath the ground. They were in a mountain valley way.
The monster resembled a crap with its pincer larger than their body. They also could move in every direction.
Dante couldn’t observe the speed as they were asleep.
Overall, he gave this horde of monsters a rating of 7. Not bad. Not good.
Their mana was plentiful.
"Look good." A familiar voice sounded from beside.
"Yeah." Dante agreed. "I can see their shell can become a problem. Not for you at least."
"Haha." Thomas laughed. "I can cook them alive with my fire."
Dante shook his head. "Too bad we aren’t here for the sea food."
He left and grouped with Shizuku. She was drawing something on the ground. He peered over and looked at it.
It was a rough map of the surrounding area. Liroa added a few things to it.
It reminded him of his earlier time in this place.
He crouched and looked at the drawing. Immediately, his mind planned to form a plan to attack the monsters but he didn’t voice out.
Instead, he waited for the two ladies to do the job for him.
"Before we attack." He said. "What is that monster’s level?"
"I saw 56 to 58. The highest is 59 and seemed to be the boss of the horde." Liora answered.
Shizuku nodded. "That is why we will lure those things away from the horde."
Dante didn’t understand the meaning behind that and asked. "Why would you do that?"
Shizuku looked at Liora and backed at Dante. Her eyes were saying why Dante didn’t know the obvious fact.
"High leveled monsters can control their kind. It is like their bloodline or instinct." Shizuku said. "So we need to kill that thing separately before it commands the others."
Dante nodded. He understood the point in that but.
"But it is more risky right? What if killing the leader meant resulting in the rage of others. That is no good right?" Dante explained. "Sure, we used to kill leaders to demoralize the enemy but they are not that intelligent to understand that."
"So what are you getting?" Shizuku sighed.
"Hehe." Dante let out a chuckle. "Alright, here is the plan."
"We are not targeting the leader from the start. Thomas will first alert the monster."
"That is stupid." Liora interrupted.
"I know. I know. Just listen to me." Dante said and continued explaining his idea. "We are outnumbered by the monsters. There are about 12 or 14 monsters underneath. And I don’t think we can kill them with one shot."
"So we will pour their attention somewhere. A giant distraction."
"It is me right?" Thomas said.
"Yep. You are the best at that." Dante said. "Anyway, Thomas will announce his presence here."
He drew a circle on the crudely created map.
"That will create two effects on the battlefield. If Thomas can damage them with ease, the boss would likely command to focus on him. If he couldn’t deal a lot of damage, they will likely drag out the fight."
"The first hypothesis is what I wanted since that way, you two can attack the leader from here." Dante said.
He began explaining his plan in detail. But he was alone this time as Shizuku was also a good strategist. She added a few points.
After talking for a while, they crafted the ideal plan with a minimum risk.
Dante looked proudly at the map they created and nodded to himself.
He stood up and went to Thomas who was preparing his gauntlets. He looked at the weapon.
"How are the gauntlets?" He asked.
"Great. I just brought these for their durability and mana conducting property." Thomas asked.
"Are you ready for the fight?" Dante said, looking at the magic crabs underneath.
Shizuku and Liora took their respective positions and went away.
The fight will start when Thomas gives the signal.
"I don’t understand much of the plan but since you are here. I am going to trust you. Is it alright?"
"You can trust me." Dante said, patting his friend’s back.
Thomas smiled and banged his fist together, it was so fast and powerful that it created sparks. He let out unrestrained laughs and jumped down.
He landed on the ground with such force that he created cracks underneath him.
Immediately, the magic crabs looked at his direction with their long eyes. They all made noises with their pincers.
The boss commended the crabs. About 5 crabs charged at Thomas and the rest circled around their boss, protecting it.
Thomas didn’t waste any time and dashed toward the crabs, his fist burning in bright yellow flame.
He punched at the nearest crab.
Dante observed the fight and noted down.
’Thomas’ regular fist is not enough to break their shell. He probably needs more fire power.’ He muttered to himself and jumped down.
He arrived behind Thomas and immediately used Swift Rush.
He was aiming at the big boss. Right now, the situation was going in the direction of the Plan 1.
Why he didn’t name the plan in alphabetically? Because that would mean he only had 26 plans.
Well, he didn’t have that many plans right now but it should somewhat installed this kind of ideas of some super genius.
Before he reached the big boss, the underlings stopped him with the mana blast.
Their fired concertarted mana from their pincers, similar to his mana bolt.
He doged to the side and fired his mana bolt as well. The crabs didn’t register this kind of attacks as it bounced off from their shell.
That was embarrassing.
"Now." He yelled out.
Before he could move, arrows rained down upon the underlings. Just as he suspected it didn’t pierce them but they brought him sometime.
Time for him to reach the big boss.
He immediately arrived in front of the giant crab and dropped a kick at its eyes.
It made a screech.
