Becoming Secret Nanny for Possessive CEO-Chapter 28: Be My Dance Partner

Chapter 28

Chapter 28: Chapter 28: Be My Dance Partner
Even though Edith wanted to tell him what was really going on, things were getting more complicated. It was even harder for her to avoid Callum because she had to be his dance partner at the upcoming ball. What would she do if Cliff were to attend the ball? She didn’t want the two men to fight over her. However, she also didn’t want to turn down Callum’s invitation because he had given her so many gifts today.
"How important is the dance that you have to ask me?"
"Actually, I’ve never attended a dance party before. Moreover, if I didn’t attend, I’d be matched with anyone."
"But, isn’t it good for you?"
"No. I don’t like being matched with another woman because I only love one woman in this world."
Her cheeks flushed red at her lover’s indirect declaration of love. "But why must I accompany you? Aren’t you afraid our relationship will be exposed?"
"Don’t worry, you’ll be wearing a mask throughout the dance. I don’t want to leave you to take care of the kids all day while I’m having so much fun."
Edith stared nervously at the ceiling. "Shouldn’t I just stay home and take care of the kids? It’s riskier if I accompany you to the ball?"
"But wouldn’t it be even riskier if I were matched with another woman? What would you do if you saw me dancing with another woman and then kissing her?"
As usual, Callum was always asking her difficult questions. She wanted to tell him straight up that she didn’t like seeing him flirt with other women, especially if they were prettier and sexier than her. She would cry and be angry if Callum suddenly betrayed her.
"Isn’t it obvious you’re the one who’s being unreasonable? I can already imagine it because you’re so handsome, and there must be a lot of women after you. Since you can’t be fierce in front of them, you’re forced to let them tease you."
"Haven’t you ever seen my interviews? I’ve always been known as a mysterious and cold-hearted man because I always ignore the sexy women who try to flirt with me."
"So, is it true that you only love one woman?"
"Of course, because since I fell in love with her, I smile more often." His lips landed on the back of his lover’s hand. "Would you like to come with me to the ball?"
Edith lowered her head in shame and nodded. "Okay, I’ll consider it part of my job. After all, I’ve received so much from you. Now I must repay your kindness."
Callum stood up slowly, then embraced his girlfriend’s slender body affectionately. He had actually felt something was off about her behavior all day. However, he wanted to remain silent until she dared to confide in him. He knew all too well how her pretentious personality was when they first started dating. Just like now, her attitude hadn’t changed.
"By the way, don’t you want to go back to the office now?" Edith asked in a whisper.
"Give me some more time. I still want to be with you."
"So, what about that important meeting you have today?"
"Since my client suddenly canceled the meeting, I can accompany you now."
Edith smiled shyly, slowly groping her lover’s broad back. "But, I can’t really dance. Is that okay with you?"
"Actually, I’ve never danced either."
"Then, how are we going to dance later?" Edith widened her eyes and her mouth gaped.
"We can learn to dance together starting today." Callum briefly broke the hug. "You don’t have to worry anymore. I’ll make time to learn to dance with you after work."
"Then, who will teach us?"
"Of course, we will study it ourselves."
"What?!"
Callum immediately covered his girlfriend’s mouth with his hand. "Keep your voice down. Do you want the kids to hear?"
"Wait a minute! How are we supposed to learn it ourselves?"
"We just have to learn it from videos on YouTube."
"You really are a genius, Callum! Do you think learning to dance is easier than learning business?"
"It seems you still don’t know me fully. Were you insensitive when I brought you here yesterday?"
"That’s what I really wanted to ask. What’s wrong with you? Why do you seem like you don’t trust anyone?"
Callum led his girlfriend to sit on the edge of the bed. "Actually, I don’t trust anyone easily. Even the doctors at the hospital who are family acquaintances—I don’t trust them all."
"Why did you have to go this far? You’re the CEO. Even though you shouldn’t trust anyone easily, it could harm you, it seems like you have some trauma that’s causing you to act this way."
"Because I’ve always been betrayed by everyone. Moreover, my family has always considered me an illegitimate child, which is why they intend to abandon me even though I’m the main key to their business’s success to this day." His eyes sparkled as he stared at his lover’s beautiful face. "Since meeting you, I’ve forgotten that principle. I trust you so much because you’ve always been honest and truthful."
"But, I still don’t trust you completely until now."
"It doesn’t matter. The important thing now is that you still care about me. I only trust you, our twins, and my personal assistant."
"So you still don’t believe the DNA test results?"
"Yes, that’s why I wanted to warn you not to trust anyone so easily. Maybe someone has been trying to destroy our relationship all along."
Edith was still curious about Callum’s statement. Was Callum referring to Cliff? What exactly is Callum and Cliff’s relationship like that, that they seem like sworn enemies? Is it because Callum is an illegitimate child? Or did one of them commit a mistake that caused them to become enemies?
"Callum, actually this afternoon I went to the hospital to do a DNA test between Cliff and our twins."
Callum lifted the corners of his lips. "I won’t stop you."
"Why aren’t you angry?"
"Even though the results will disappoint me, I want you to follow your heart. Who are you really in love with?"
