Chapter 1959: Chapter 1961: This Knife Is Yours
In that moment, your body automatically performed a reflexive action: your left leg bent, and your body’s center of gravity lowered. Then, your right foot stomped the ground fiercely, and with a "bang," you shot out like a cannonball!
Due to the sheer speed, you couldn’t even savor the sensation of flying through the air. As your body darted forward, your eyes sharply caught the movement of a wild rabbit, and in that instant, you made your move! The action was swift like lightning, and you accurately seized the rabbit’s right thigh!
You grabbed and fell to the ground with it. It was only then that you finally realized, everything that just happened felt like a dream.
Turning back, dumbfounded, you looked at the more than twenty-meter distance, then stared at the rabbit struggling in your hand. Your brow furrowed tightly once more: "What on earth happened to me? When did I acquire such skills? Without the Sen Luo Eye’s enhancement, it’s impossible for my body to be this formidable."
No one could answer you. But fortunately, you were a broad-minded person, and although you were filled with doubts, this outcome was clearly nothing but a good result for you.
To prevent the rabbit from escaping, you grabbed its leg and violently smashed it against a nearby tree trunk a few times. The rabbit quickly died by your actions. Holding the bloody rabbit, you prepared to leave, as the sun was already setting, and staying any longer would indeed be dangerous.
With a small path leading you, leaving the forest didn’t take much time. Shortly afterward, the obstacles set by the villagers appeared before you as night fell.
Just as you let out a sigh of relief, you suddenly heard a strange noise behind you, and a sense of crisis surged up.
You suddenly smelled the rancid stench of a wild beast coming from behind. As you turned your head sharply, your pupils dilated rapidly because two gray wolves were lunging at you!
The closest gray wolf had its mouth wide open with tusks bared. Within a blink, it could bite your right hand!
"Bang!"
With a fierce collision, the gray wolf saw only a phantom before its death, never clearly seeing the real object behind it, nor did it let out a cry of pain. In the instant that phantom struck its head, the entire wolf’s head exploded! Blood, flesh, and white skull fragments flew apart, scattering in the air.
Another reflex action!
Your fist, after shattering the head of that gray wolf, mysteriously and swiftly pierced into the other gray wolf’s lower jaw, penetrating its skull!
Instantly handling two adult gray wolves did not scare the pack away; instead, the wolves became unusually bloodthirsty because of the blood from the two gray wolves. Led by their alpha, the wolf pack surrounded you in a circle.
Yet, at this moment, you felt no fear. Your usual consciousness was shattered and replaced by an instinct, an animalistic instinct. You didn’t even know what you were doing, only that you instinctively eyed the largest and fiercest-looking alpha wolf in the pack.
Initially, the wolf pack didn’t sense anything unusual and slowly approached you. If they attacked together, they could undoubtedly tear you to pieces.
But gradually, the wolves grew restless. The gray wolves nearest to you even started shivering, their once high-held heads drooping, with some even tucking their tails.
At this moment, your eyes turned razor-sharp, like an incredibly sharp precious blade. As you stared down the alpha wolf, you suddenly let out a long howl to the sky, the roar resembling that of a colossal Ferocious Beast, echoing like thunder!
In that instant, the alpha wolf recoiled. It realized it might be facing an unbeatable monster. As the pack leader, it couldn’t let its brethren die needlessly. Soon, the alpha wolf howled a long call and immediately turned to leave, with the pack quickly following its lead, disappearing from your sight.
During the time after the wolf pack disappeared, your thoughts remained turbulent, feeling as if you were drifting within monstrous waves, the world spinning around you, even experiencing a suffocating sensation. It wasn’t until much later that you snapped back to reality, and by then, the Ming Yue had already hung high.
Touching your slightly aching head, you carried the rabbit, crossed over the obstacles, and headed toward the hillside.
The sensations from earlier left you even more perplexed, but try as you might, you couldn’t recall anything. That blank piece of memory was impossible to find or fill in.
With a firm shake of your head, you decided to stop dwelling on it for now.
The campfire on the hill was still burning, and you saw two figures sitting around it in the firelight—one was the little girl, and the other, with long hair, appeared to be the woman you saved.
The moonlight in this world was so bright, it was like a gigantic searchlight illuminating the earth, allowing you to see the weeds on the ground clearly. As you approached, you naturally saw the woman’s face, an appearance so captivating you couldn’t look away. At this moment, with the evening breeze against your face and moonlit hues washing everything, this stunning woman sat before you, and your heart naturally welled up with a resolve to always protect her.
The little girl saw you coming from a distance and immediately stood up, bouncing joyfully in the firelight.
The woman also slightly turned her head, revealing two-thirds of her face to you, and her beauty instantly became complete, filling your heart. Seeing you approach, the woman rose slowly with the little girl and bowed deeply to you. As she stood up, you were already in front of her, with only about ten centimeters between the two of you.
You shook the rabbit in your hand and said with a smile, "Not a bad catch. Looks like we’ll have a good meal tonight."
"Thank you, thank you."
The woman spoke, and her voice left you stunned. It wasn’t just because of her voice, as clear as a mountain spring, but also because she spoke in Mandarin!
"You can speak Mandarin?" you asked in surprise, even reaching out to hold her slightly cold hand.
With you grabbing her hand, the woman could only blush and lower her head, not daring to meet your gaze.
It was only then you realized your behavior was somewhat abrupt. You quickly stepped back two steps, saying with a smile, "I’ll go prepare the rabbit, and tonight we’ll have a proper meal."
Looking around, you didn’t see anything sharp, so you asked, "Do you have a knife?"
The woman paused and then turned to speak a few words in that strange language to the little girl beside her. The little girl nodded and went into the cave, retrieving a steel blade. This chopper was the very one that drifted with you to the beach back then.
When you took the chopper from the little girl’s hand, the woman deliberately said in not-so-perfect Mandarin, with a heavy emphasis, "Little Cherry said this precious sword is yours."
"Mine?" you hefted the steel blade in your hand, finding it very suitable, regardless of the weight or the grip handle as if it were custom-made for you. While examining the steel blade, you noticed a character etched at the end of the handle—"Huang." You speculated it might be the surname of the blade’s maker.
