Regression - Second Chance At Life-Chapter 234: Family Dinner Continues

Chapter 234

Chapter 234: Family Dinner Continues
While the audacity of her daughter makes Priscilla very angry, Samuel is still trying to come to terms with the fact that his little girl is no longer little.
She is old enough to be having sex with a man, whom she claims to love.
It was not long ago when Candice was just a little girl playing with him, giggling with happiness, his little princess.
And now the same girl is sitting before him, fighting over a man with her mother, well, at least that’s what he sees.
"Just hear the words that are coming out of your mouth. It’s vile and sinful, all because you are mingling with that devilish boy!" Priscilla yells at Candice.
"You can’t tell me what to do, and no way in hell will you stop me from being with Adam!" Candice yells back.
"Dear! Say something! Look how rudely she is speaking to her own mother. All of this is because that devilish boy has managed to fill her head with sinful thoughts," Priscilla says, trying to win over her husband to her side.
After all, she prepared all his favorite dishes just so he would back her on this, but she forgets that Samuel has always been very soft on his daughter.
Instead of saying anything, he chooses to keep his silence.
"Don’t drag Dad into this. This has nothing to do with him. This is all you and me. It’s you who is the problem here. You have filled your head with all that religious nonsense, and it has made my life a living hell. Do you know how annoying you have been all my life? Because of you, I didn’t have a normal childhood like my other friends.
I am done with your bullshit. I will not allow you to ruin my adult life as well!" Candice says.
"That’s it, young lady! Go to your room! You are grounded until I say you aren’t. And you are coming with me to the temple this weekend so that you can repent for your sins!" Priscilla says angrily.
"Fuck you! I am not going to do any of that. And fuck your fake God as well. I don’t give a shit!" Candice yells back.
*GASP* Priscilla gasps out loud, hearing Candice curse her God. This is blasphemy.
"My lord! Please forgive my daughter for her blasphemous words! She doesn’t know! She is naïve! She is bewitched by sinful thoughts!" Priscilla immediately closed her eyes, clasped her hands, and began praying for Candice.
"Stop that! Dad, do you see this? She is losing her mind over such a small matter!" Candice looks at Samuel, hoping he will step up to defend her.
But Candice forgets, Samuel has never been someone who has ever disagreed with his wife, so he decides to keep his mouth shut.
"Ugh! I am done here! I am going to my room!" Candice says and almost jumps off her chair as she stands up.
"No, you are not! You aren’t going anywhere until you stop being a sinful creature!" Priscilla says.
"You were the one who told me to go to my room just now?" Candice asks, annoyed.
"I did, but that doesn’t matter. You have committed a grave sin by insulting the lord, for that, you need to repent!" Priscilla says.
"I am not gonna do shit! You can’t force me! I am an adult!" Candice says.
"It doesn’t matter if you are an adult or not. You live under my house, you follow my rules. You will immediately stop seeing that boy! You will not have any contact with him! If you want to live in my house and under my roof, then you will listen!" Priscilla threatens.
"This is not your house, it’s Dad’s house. He worked for it, he paid for it. The only thing you did it sit around the house and ruin my life by dragging me into your religious bullshit! And no, I am not going to stop seeing Adam, and you can’t do anything about it," Candice yells back.
"Do you really think that? Your father only managed to do what he did because I made sure he would have nothing to worry about when he came home. He managed to buy this house because of me. This is my home, and you will do what I tell you to do!" Priscilla says.
"Fine then, I am going to leave. I am not going to stay here anymore since you are being such a bitch!" Candice says the b word, which makes Priscilla go silent for a second.
Even Samuel is stunned as this is the first time Candice has ever gone this extreme on her mother; sure, the mother-daughter argue all the time, but this time it’s more serious than ever.
"Heh~ And where are you going to go?" Priscilla asks mockingly.
"I will live with my friends, or maybe I will go live with Adam. His house is big enough to accommodate me, and he is rich enough to feed me," Candice says, yelling back.
As the mother and daughter argue, Samuel feels someone poured ice-cold water on top of his head as he hears his daughter is ready to leave his house.
She might be old enough to have sex and be in relationships, but there is no way he is letting his little girl live with someone else and have no one to look after.
"ENOUGH!" Samuel finally speaks, slamming his palm on the table, startling both Candice and Priscilla.
Never has Samuel ever raised his voice like this before. Samuel has always been soft-spoken and gentle with his words; for him to yell and slam his hand on the table, both women realize that they have pushed this matter very far.
"Both of you, shut up. No more arguing over this!" Samuel says, giving both of them a serious glare.
Candice immediately shuts up and sits down.
"But-" Priscilla tries to speak, but gets a serious glare from Samuel, forcing her to shut up.
"No buts. This ends now. Candice is not going anywhere. This is her house as much as it is mine and yours. She can stay here as long as she wants."
Candice smiles, hearing her dad’s words, and mockingly looks at her mother.
"And Candice, don’t you ever dare call your mother a bitch ever again, or I am going to cut off your allowance!" Candice’s smug smile immediately disappears from her face.
He looks back at Priscilla again. "And as for this boy, if Candice likes him, then that’s it. No need to blow this situation up for no reason," Samuel says.
"But, that boy- He is not like us, he doesn’t believe in our God!" Priscilla argues.
"Doesn’t matter. If he takes good care of Candice, then that’s fine. But if you have something else to say about him, something that has you so against him dating Candice, out with it," Samuel says.
Priscilla opens her mouth to complain about how Adam provoked her and touched her, but she stops herself. Because she does reveal what happened between her and Adam, she needs to reveal the whole thing.
Lying is a sin, and she would be lying if she didn’t fully confess to the whole truth, as hiding the other half of the truth is also lying. How Adam’s words and actions ignited sinful thoughts in her head.
She could never admit to her husband that she thought of another man while being married to him.
Priscilla closes her mouth, stopping herself from saying anything further.
"Good! I don’t want to hear about this matter again," Samuel says and looks at Candice. "This boy you like, what’s his name?" Samuel asks.
"It’s Adam," Candice replies.
"Invite Adam over for dinner sometime. I want to see what kind of man you have fallen in love with," Samuel says, and gets up from his chair and leaves.
The mother and daughter stare at each other for a few seconds before Candice leaves for her room as well.
Priscilla sits there in defeat as things didn’t go as she thought they would.
She realized she had made a mistake by pushing Candice too much, to the point where she was willing to leave the house. Now, much clearer-headed, Priscilla knows how much Samuel loves her daughter and would never let that happen.
Her desire to stop Candice from seeing Adam backfired because she couldn’t control her emotions.
And now, she is stuck. Samuel has made his decision and even told Candice to bring Adam for dinner, which is a nightmarish scenario for her.
Adam coming for dinner is a disaster waiting to happen in her eyes. She has seen Adam’s devilish charisma on display; he will easily be able to charm her husband and get close to him, which will solidify Adam’s claim to Candice.
Knowing how innocent her husband is, she knows he won’t be able to resist Adam’s charm, and just like his daughter, her husband will also be corrupted by Adam’s sinful ideologies.
Feeling extremely frustrated, Priscilla starts biting the nail of her thumb, which she hasn’t done in a while.
"I need some advice to counter that devilish boy.... I need to speak to Mother Priestess; only she can give me the advice I need," Priscilla speaks to herself.
She decides to visit the temple tomorrow and ask for the urgent advice she needs, because if she lets that devilish boy continue to influence her family, they will be pulled away from the Lord, which is a grave sin.
Priscilla then gets back to her feet and cleans up the table, washes the dishes, cleans up the entire kitchen, and retires to her bedroom, where she finds her husband already deep asleep.
’Don’t worry, I will make sure that our family stays on the right path,’ She promises to her husband, whom she has no faith in, and will do what she thinks is necessary to fix their daughter.
