Chapter 182: Chapter 182 Match Over
When the battle started, Clara had lost all hope, but now the fire in her was revived. In her mind, she just needed to push a little harder, and she could actually win.
She quickly pressed forward, conjuring another spell, she was going to use her strongest spell, and even though it wasn’t the fastest, there was no way to dodge it.
She held her hands for some seconds and this time, flames erupted in front of her in the shape of a serpent.
It slithered through the air, massive and twisting, as it lunged straight for Aurelia. Even though the spell wasn’t the fastest, it could lock onto the target, and Clara could control it with her hands.
Aurelia stopped walking. She lowered her sword, closing her eyes for just a moment, her lips moving in a soft chant. Her blade shimmered in that moment and then the spell struck.
When the flame serpent struck, Aurelia moved.
She spun, her shield bracing the first impact, and her sword flashed. With one swift, powerful slash, she cut through the serpent, splitting the entire spell into sparks.
The flames scattered into harmless embers, raining down around her like fireflies.
Clara froze as her jaw dropped. That was her strongest spell so far, and Aurelia had cut it apart like it was nothing. The spell was supposed to explode on impact, but it didn’t.
’Why did it explode, Aurelia must have used an enchantment to cancel the effect of the spell, what do I do, would she cancel the next one, I can’t fire the spell twice, and my Mana is already running low’
Aurelia didn’t give her time to think as she dashed forward, faster than before, her sword glowing with another layer of enchantment.
The ground cracked under her steps as she closed the distance.
Clara panicked. She flung her hands forward, conjuring fireballs in rapid bursts, throwing them desperately one after another.
*Boom! Boom! Boom!*
Explosions filled the arena as the fireballs rained against Aurelia’s shield and armor. Smoke filled the field, covering both of them.
Then, through the smoke, Aurelia came charging, shield raised high, sword pulled back.
Clara’s eyes widened in fear. She tried to conjure another spell, but she faltered; she had used too much Mana already. The flames flickered weakly at her hands without shooting out.
Aurelia reached her, her shield slamming forward like a hammer on Clara’s face.
Clara staggered back also falling down.
"Ahh!" she gasped, barely holding herself upright and trying to continue.
Before she could recover, Aurelia’s sword slashed downward.
Clara raised her hands, trying to conjure a wall of fire, but Aurelia’s blade was faster as she swung it and the sword stopped just before Clara’s neck.
The barrier around Clara cracked loudly, then shattered into pieces after stopping Aurelia’s sword.
The match was over.
The announcer raised her hand immediately. "Winner! Princess Aurelia!"
Silence fell across the arena before the crowd erupted into cheers, almost everyone there clapped their hands, including Clara’s family. The fight she put up was amazing indeed, even the Queen was clapping her hands.
Clara fell to her knees, breathing hard, with sweat dripping down her face.
Aurelia stepped back, lowering her sword. She gave Clara a small, respectful nod before speaking.
"Good match" Aurelia spoke.
Clara’s eyes widened slightly, the she gave a faint nod. "It was right" she replied with a smile.
Roman crossed his arms, his lips curling into the faintest smile. "Clara, she’s definitely going to be one of the strongest flame users of her time. Not bad at all."
As Aurelia and Clara walked toward the edge of the arena, the crowd continued clapping, the energy in the air refusing to die down.
Everyone had expected an easy win for Aurelia. Instead, they had seen a real fight.
And for Roman, standing there quietly, he couldn’t help but think, why didn’t Aurelia run towards her the moment the battle started? Only one thing came to his mind: she wanted Clara to show off.
Aurelia wasn’t the kind to talk too much or show any care, but she was always vigilant, maybe she did it because of what happened yesterday with Joanna.
Both of them sat down beside the others as Reina and Mira stood up and strode towards the arena.
"That was a wonderful fight," Roman said to both of them.
"Thanks" Clara replied with a smile while Aurelia nodded.
’This next match is going to be close for real, I’m leaning towards Reina winning, but I’m pretty sure Mira would put in the fight of her life,’ Roman muttered to himself as he watched.
Both of the girls stood in front of themselves as the barrier was placed on their bodies before backing away. Since both of them were summoners, they created a good amount of distance between themselves.
"Who do you think would win?" Roman asked Ava.
"I don’t know, but I’ll go with Mira... Reina might be powerful, but Mira has more control and diversity thanks to her newest summon," Ava replied.
"I’m leaning towards Reina, not because she’s S-rank but because she’s going to do everything to win" Roman spoke.
"Reina is going to win," Aurelia spoke, and the girls turned towards her.
"Do you know something? You said that with confidence." Ava asked.
"Does it have to do with the summon she didn’t want to show anyone, have you seen it?" Roman asked.
"I was with her the night she tamed it. It was midnight, and everyone was asleep when she did, except me and her. I was going to train, but she told me to watch over her," Aurelia replied.
"So you do know what it is, tell us" Clara joined the conversation.
"What if she wins without using the summon? Watch the match, and find out" Aurelia simply said as she turned towards the arena.
’Still, with or without the summon, Reina would still win the fight, I’m pretty sure I’m not biased, I’m just certain’
