The twelve blessings grew increasingly extraordinary with each one. If this child were to grow up, she would undoubtedly become the greatest enemy of evil forces. However, she was just a little girl, and much of her story involved sleeping, only to be eventually kissed awake by a prince. What a tragic waste of such incredible blessings! With so many amazing gifts, she just lay in bed for hundreds of years and then went off to live happily ever after.
Wait, that's not quite right either. It didn't seem to be true love. That prince was just a tool as well. The final gift stated that the princess would sleep for one hundred years before someone came to wake her - it wasn't about true love. During those hundred years, many people actually tried to save the princess, but they were all pierced to death by thorns. A century later, a prince who could have been the princess's great-grandson appeared, and all those obstructive thorns automatically cleared a path, guiding him to wake the princess.
As the saying goes, with so many blessings, who wouldn't be her true love?
Hold on, the twelfth witch seemed to be the last one to give her blessing. Beihai suddenly noticed something peculiar - the order of blessings was starting to feel wrong. According to the original story, the curse should have been announced second to last. The final witch, unable to remove the curse, transformed the death curse into sleep, with the condition for awakening being a kiss from one's true love.
As for the kiss from one's true love... with such extraordinary blessings on this child, anyone who saw her would like her, anyone would fall in love with her! Even I could fall in love at first sight!
But now all twelve witches had already given their blessings, leaving only the final one present. So whether it was the twelve witches, the king, or Beihai, everyone's gaze turned to the last witch.
She played with her magic wand, then slowly walked up to the baby. She began examining the other witches and the king. At this moment, the atmosphere suddenly shifted. The noisy celebration inexplicably fell silent. This tension made the queen instinctively grasp the king's hand.
The king tightly held the queen's hand in return, then patted it reassuringly, hoping to ease the tension in this strained atmosphere. For a moment, the mood in the venue became quite oppressive. When Beihai came to his senses, he also lowered his hand. Just moments before, he had unconsciously reached for the sword at his waist. This situation felt very strange, as if signaling that something major was about to happen.
"Your Majesty, there's no need for such hostility toward me. You invited me and showed me such respect, so naturally I must bless your daughter."
In this oppressive atmosphere, the thirteenth witch slowly spoke up to explain, easing the tension in the room considerably. The king instinctively wiped the cold sweat from his forehead, but just as he was about to speak, he heard the witch say:
"So I will bless the princess with eyes that can see through the essence of all things. No one will be able to lie in her presence. There will be no falsehoods before this princess. Then, on this princess's sixteenth birthday, her hand will be pricked by a spinning wheel's needle and she will immediately die."
As her words fell, the entire hall erupted in uproar. This curse had come far too suddenly!
This curse even bypassed the blessing of not being harmed by weapons. Blessings were like bestowed favors, and she had found a loophole. Although spinning wheels were man-made, they weren't weapons! They weren't fangs or claws either! They were even cold, inanimate objects that wouldn't abandon killing the princess because of her beauty or words.
There were only two things in this world that were unavoidable: instant attacks with zero frames, and attacks with excessively long wind-ups. Who could have anticipated this? They were in the middle of blessings when suddenly the tone shifted to curses!
The king instantly flew into a rage, momentarily losing his rationality. He snatched a sword from a nearby guard and attempted to strike the witch.
"Why? Why! I haven't neglected you, I haven't disrespected you, yet you cast such a vicious curse!"
"Your Majesty, you invited so many witches to enjoy such numerous blessings, but that requires a corresponding price."
The king's furious strike was easily dodged.
Beihai realized he couldn't just watch anymore - he needed to maximize his benefits. Moreover, as a knight, he definitely had to side with the king against the witch at a time like this.
"You evil witch, what twisted nonsense! This curse is just for your amusement, isn't it?"
"Correct! Then I shall reward you by telling you this: just eliminate me, the source of this curse, and the curse will become void."
This witch acted entirely according to her personal whims. Characters like her were actually quite common in this world. Furthermore, this world inherently had some purely villainous characters, and this one happened to check both boxes.
The witch waved her wand again, preparing to turn Beihai into a frog - this was a commonly used curse magic.
The other witches, having regained their senses, hurriedly warned Beihai.
But Beihai didn't care about any of that - he charged straight through the curse.
The casually strolling witch, seeing that Beihai showed no changes and was still charging forward at incredible speed, was greatly startled. She raised her wand to block this slash.
With just one strike, the witch was embedded into the wall. This wand didn't seem to be made of ordinary wood.
Beihai had thought he could cut off her head, but instead his sword gained several notches, while the witch couldn't withstand the force and her entire body went flying.
The witch's body slammed into the wall, raising a cloud of dust. Beihai wouldn't give her time to catch her breath - after all, there was the "smoke without injury" principle.
Just as he charged in, a red-skinned figure emerged - more accurately, a horned monster abruptly rushed out.
With horns on its head, wings on its back, and even a tail with red skin - this was the image of a demon!!
And there were quite a number of them. However, the witch who summoned these demons had clearly paid a heavy price. Originally appearing as a gloomy woman, she had now transformed into an old man, looking like he could kick the bucket at any moment.
The remaining twelve witches naturally rushed forward together, preparing to join the knight in resistance.
But Beihai wouldn't let them have their way - these were all his attribute points!
Without a second thought, he swung his sword at the demon's neck. Then the demon flew away, and Beihai's sword broke.
This stunned the surrounding demons, but they quickly realized that the knight's broken sword meant he had no means of attack.
A tiger without teeth was just a cat, wasn't it?
Dozens of mountain-sized demons surrounded the knight, creating an overwhelming sense of pressure. The knight looked like a tiny chick in comparison.
They were about to mock him before even opening their mouths when one demon's head exploded.
"What?! This knight is human?!"
The cursing witch screamed in disbelief. That was a demon! A giant demon at that, of the combat type, not the seductive type. A demon's skin was harder than steel! The knight's broken sword was the best proof.
Damn it! After all that, his fists were more powerful than his sword? How was that reasonable?
What kind of knight or soldier could be this badass without weapons?
The scene descended into chaos. The cursing witch coughed up several mouthfuls of blood and, mustering her last bit of strength, immediately fled. There were no final victory declarations - none of that existed. If she stayed, she would die!
Beihai moved quickly. To prevent these witches from stealing his attribute points, he essentially took them down with one punch each. Fortunately, these fools had surrounded him in a circle, so he didn't need to move around much.
The last demon had no choice but to pull out its trump card - a mirror.
"Hahaha, noble knight! Fall into the illusion named nobility!"
In this illusion, the demon transformed into a little girl. The knight would need to seek salvation, experiencing both psychological and physical torment.
When the fist, mixed with mirror shards, struck the demon's face - first the nose, then the teeth, and finally the entire skull - in the demon's final moments, what it thought was: This isn't scientific!
He should have been a noble knight, a virtuous being! How could he not be deceived by the mirror's illusion? Unless his nobility was fake, utilitarian? But then how did he earn his reputation?!
