The Max Level Hero Has Returned!-Chapter 1187

Chapter 1187
“Here! We need more digging over here.”
This must’ve been what it meant to have roles reversed.
Evangeline was digging through the cave like she'd just found herself a new home. Not only did she install a variety of traps, but she even created spaces that didn’t seem necessary at all.
“She's really getting into it... Is this just how dragons usually are?”
“She probably awakened her instincts later than most. You know what they say—late-bloomers go the hardest.”
Evangeline carefully stashed her precious sweet and regular potatoes, safely concealed within the chamber she had built with tremendous effort.
“No one’s taking them from me ever again,” she said with confidence.
“Keepson No. 8, I’m giving you an important mission.” She pointed a finger at the scarecrow.
[LOL but how is she even streaming from a cave?]
[As if there being signal on a deserted island makes sense in the first place LOL]
[I don’t know but this whole project is so satisfying to watch. I can’t stop.]
[Boss lost it. Her unhinged smile is actually adorable. Someone stop overworking Keepsons LOL]
[She named the scarecrow and now I have a whole folder of cringey clips of her. Big success.]
The viewers laughed at the ridiculous scene of her naming a motionless scarecrow, happily clipping the footage.
“Move!” However, the moment she shouted, they could sense a strange power to her voice. What happened next went far beyond anything the viewers expected.
Ssss.
Keepson No. 8, the scarecrow she had cobbled together from various materials, began to absorb an immense amount of power. Rocks from the surroundings started gathering around it, gradually forming a golem-like figure.
“Ancient dragon trait... guardian creation...” Rinne muttered in disbelief as she watched the transformation.
If building a lair and protecting treasure was a deeply ingrained instinct of dragons, then speaking dragontongue to create a guardian golem to defend it was just another part of that same instinct.
[Bro’s suddenly moving?!]
[She just straight-up built a golem on the spot GG]
[Golem-type Awakened individuals are punching the air right now.]
[So Keepson was alive all along?!]
The chat exploded with disbelief. Some viewers even began cheering for Keepson and siding with Evangeline.
Evangeline, who couldn't have cared less, casually patted Keepson on the shoulder. “Good! From now on, your mission is to guard my treasure here.”
[FriedOrbamu has donated 69,420 Won]
- Boss! It’s time! Let’s go punish those thieves!
Even the viewers had started enjoying themselves. Her transformation had become a source of entertainment for them.
They should’ve been tense and worried, yet considering the kind of behavior the four displayed, and the reputation of the Saint of Tionis, any serious concern felt meaningless.
“Of course! Now it’s time to reel those thieves in. Just you watch! I’ll definitely catch them this time.” She grinned brightly, her eyes shining.
“No. Not yet. I still need to fix the unstable parts,” she said before bolting off in a hurry.
Marky, who was left behind with the tablet in her hands, sighed.
[Okay, since boss is gone, let’s talk amongst ourselves. Eva’s getting way too into this...]
[You sure she’s okay? I mean, this is an unknown deserted island.]
A moment ago, the chat had all been cheering for her. Now, they seemed worried.
“Don’t worry, everyone. Everything’s fine.”
[The hell it is, you psycho bitch lasagna. She’s clearly spiraling and you say she’s good?!]
“Hey now, no cursing.” Yuria smiled sweetly and promptly muted the viewer. “Take a little break and sit in the corner of shame for a while.”
* * *
While viewers reeled in shock at Evangeline's sheer determination to build a full-blown fortress, Rinne, Yuria, and Marky huddled together.
“Okay. Everything’s gone according to plan so far, so what now?”
“We’ll do it just like Mastery Davey planned. Once Eva starts to feel secure here, we guide her to the villa.”
Evangeline was unaware that right above where her lair had been set up, there was a beautiful and spacious villa with a breathtaking view. Davey had cast a perception lowering spell to prevent her from discovering it for the time being, but it wouldn’t be long before they needed to lead her there.
“She can’t stay here forever. Hidden camera pranks are all about hitting fast and getting out even faster.”
Of course, the real objective wasn’t to mess with her—it was to get her attached to the lair she had built all by herself.
“Still, there’s no need to push her too hard.”
The rabbits never intended to fight Evangeline. Their only goal had been to steal her potato basket. The fact that they’d never once engaged her in a physical confrontation was proof of that point.
“She’s probably not going to want to leave in pursuit anytime soon, though...”
As she said, Evangeline had shifted her focus from retrieving the stolen potatoes to guarding what she still had left.
“Final phase of Master Davey’s plan. Rinne s there’s a hidden room in the current lair. Rinne states that it leads straight up to the villa.”
That would be enough.
Evangeline would never ignore a newly discovered passage, definitely investigating it the moment it was revealed.
“So all we have to do is pretend to stop her but eventually follow along. Got it.”
“Rinne evaluates Yuria’s sharp instincts highly.”
“This is simpler than I thought. But you’ve prepared for what’ll happen if she figures out what’s really going on, right?”
That one line made Rinne freeze. “Rinne evaluates she doesn’t quite know yet.”
If they weren’t careful, her genuine fury might lead to a dropkick aimed straight at Davey.
Marky couldn’t shake off an uneasy feeling. She kept thinking about how much of a handful Davey was, planning a surprise event on such a scale while ensuring the viewers and Evangeline herself were left in the dark.
Boom! Bang!!
A sudden explosion shook the area. The three who had been whispering quickly turned and ran toward the noise, only to find Evangeline firing magic repeatedly at a large wall.
“This is bad. She can’t find out now, it isn’t time yet...”
“Miss? What are you doing over there...?”
“This... I didn’t make this. There’s a passage here,” Evangeling muttered with a wary look.
She then pointed toward a large path revealed behind the crumbling stones. “That means those bastards made a hole into my treasure trove! Right?”
Fuming, she moved to take a closer look.
“Rinne evaluates uncharted area as dangerous.”
“I have to go. If I leave it alone, they’ll sneak back in and steal from me again.”
The Gourmet Research Society half-heartedly tried to stop her, then followed after her as if they had no other choice.
The massive passage led to the surface above.
Yuria struggled to hold back from laughing and forced herself to sound serious as she asked, “Who the heck would dig a tunnel like this?”
“That question doesn’t matter. I know it was those bear pelt bastards that stole from me.” Evangeline, on the other hand, was deathly serious like she was chasing down her archenemies.
Thud!! Thud!!!
As they stepped out into the wider section of the passage, everyone started to hear a loud sound echoing through the corridor.
Davey’s orders crackled through Rinne’s communications.
- Zzzt. Rinne, pretend to fight and get taken out. We’re not ready yet.
She gave a small nod and quickly whispered the situation to Yuria and Marky.
They’d worked so hard to that point, all to secure funding for the Gourmet Research Society. They wouldn’t let all of their efforts go to waste.
“Eva! Rinne advises extreme caution!” Rinne dramatically threw herself forward, shoving Evangeline back.
Under normal circumstances, she wouldn’t have gone so far, but that no longer mattered.

Ugh!!

That instant, a massive figure in a bear pelt mask swooped in and grabbed her small head in one giant hand.
“R-Rinne!!” Evangeline screamed in shock, but the hulking figure didn’t stop. It twisted her head and shook her violently side to side.

Ughghghgh.
” Rinne struggled, trying to escape the grasp, but the figure kept going.
“Miss, get back!! It’s not like the ones from before!” Yuria said as she quickly stepped in front of Evangeline. “We’ll protect you, so please retreat!”
There was no way they would miss the chance to buy more time.
The viewers were in chaos, but it was all silent screaming from the other side of the screen.
Boom!!!
Finally, the figure slammed Rinne headfirst into the ground. Evangeline’s face twisted into fierce rage.
“Rinne!!!”
The figure didn’t stop there. With Rinne still pinned, it began smashing the ground mercilessly beneath her.
“Stop it!” Yuria quickly drew her small bow and fired.
Normally, the figure would’ve dodged to avoid the attack, yet it didn’t. Right on cue, another hulking figure dropped down and snatched her wind arrow out of the air, snapping it in two.
“There’s more than one...” Yuria muttered in a tense voice.
“Step back. You can barely use your strength.” With that, Marky stepped forward, drawing out a heavy amount of power, her face tightening with focus.
“Rinne went down in one hit. That thing looks seriously dangerous, so be careful.”
On one side, the first figure kept pounding away at Rinne as if trying to turn her into pulp. On the other hand, another figure blocked the remaining three from advancing.
As the suffocating standoff continued, Evangeline clenched her teeth even harder.
“Let go of Rinne, you thieves!!” she shouted in rage.
Just as she was about to unleash her power, all three—Yuria, Marky, and Rinne, who had been pretending to get pummeled—turned their eyes to Evangeline.
They quickly exchanged a silent, wordless signal between themselves.
Boom!!
Suddenly, multiple hulking figures in bear pelts appeared, completely blocking Evangeline’s path.
“Move!!”
Her fury was beyond imagination, but the hulking figures just kept coming.

Kyaa!!
” Yuria let out a scream and collapsed, acting like she’d been taken down.
Marky put on a flawless act and allowed the enemy to land a blow. “Damn it, why are they so strong?!”
Rinne quietly raised her left arm amid the flurry of hits and gave a thumbs-up.
It was the perfect performance.
Of course, Evangeline hadn’t noticed their signs.
From a distance, it looked like Rinne was still getting thrashed, yet that wasn’t the case.
The figure, Killer Rabbit, had created a thin barrier over her and was simply drumming on it.
With Rinne, Yuria, and Marky all “down,” Evangeline was now completely cornered.
If they could buy a bit more time like that, things would work out perfectly.
Crack. Grrrrind.
However, something wasn’t right—instead of folding under pressure, Evangeline’s power started to surge.
‘Wait... this isn’t supposed to happen...?!’
All three instinctively realized it and began thinking of ways to stop her. Yet before they could act, her eyes flashed violet.
Before they knew it, she was holding onto her sword, Twilight.
Slash!!
With a chilling sound, the hulking figures in beat pelts were cleaved in half and scattered into dust.
“Don’t touch Rinne! Don’t touch Yuria either!!”
Her fury burned more fiercely than anyone had expected. Her wrath exploded outward in all directions, instantly sweeping away every Killer Rabbit minion that had surrounded them.
Some tried to defend themselves, yet were nonetheless cut down and scattered like dust. Evangeline showed them no mercy at all.
She went on a rampage, ripping through everything in her way and reducing the midpoint chamber beyond the tunnel, once filled with bear-pelt figures, into nothing but a pile of dust.
“Haah. Haah.”
She had completely wiped them out, unleashing both the power of the Sword Saint’s longsword and the swordsmanship of the Heavenly Destroyer without hesitation.
She reached forward and grabbed the head of the figure who had been attacking Rinne. “Take your hands off of her.”
Panicked and terrified inside, Rinne quickly scooped up handfuls of dirt and covered her face. If she couldn’t hide the fact she was unharmed from Evangeline, she figured she’d rather bury her face in the ground.
While she pretended to be half-buried, Yuria and Marky, who were also supposed to be “down,” gave each other nervous side glances.
Only one figure among the ‘assailants,’ the largest one, remained. It hesitated, backing away slightly.
However, Evangeline showed no sign of letting it go.
“I’m gonna kill you...” she muttered in a low voice laced with rage.
The figure visibly trembled. It glanced at Rinne through the bear pelt, then suddenly charged at Evangeline.
[Longsword]
[Heavenly Single Strike]
Crack!! Boom!!
Accompanied by the sound of a lightning strike, Evangeline swung her blade and buried it in its body, then yanked it out.
Ssss.
The final figure shattered into pieces, and a small gem-like object dropped beside Rinne.
Panting hard, Evangeline retracted her blade and slowly stood upright.
[Is this not a serious situation?]
[Wait, all three were taken out?!]
[How’s boss doing?!]
Rinne knew things were bad. Face still covered in dirt, her mind raced to find a solution.
They couldn’t afford to let Evangeline find out they were perfectly fine. Worse yet, they hadn’t even managed to buy enough time.
That left only one option.
Rinne picked up the gem that Killer Rabbit had dropped and clutched it in her hand. She then glanced toward Marky and prayed that she would notice.
Marky, still slumped against the wall with her head down, suddenly snapped her eyes open. She gave the faintest nod, then flicked her fingers from an angle where Evangeline wouldn’t see.
At that moment, the otherwise powerless gem in Rinne’s hand began to glow violently, quickly enveloping her entire body.
“R-Rinne!!”
However, the light didn’t stop building.
It wasn’t long before Rinne, suddenly dressed in black robes adorned with dark ornaments, rose slowly from within the glow. Her eyes were hollow and emotionless.
She looked at Evangeline with a blank stare, as if she’d been encroached by something.
Yuria, who had been the farthest from the group and pretending to be unconscious, quietly muttered under her breath as she quickly pieced together what Rinne and Marky were up to. “Gracious Savior, requesting limit release.”
Another change swept across the island.
Rinne, all limitations having been released, began drawing out every ounce of her previously suppressed strength.
In one hand, she formed a massive lightsaber. In the other, instead of her signature crowbar, she was holding a grotesque-looking hook, slightly deformed and twisted.
Evangeline, unaware of the truth, cried out through tears, “No... Rinne... snap out of it!”
They had resorted to faking encroachment just to stall her, but guilt began to creep in once they saw Evangeline’s response.
However, Rinne held her act with superhuman discipline and pointed her weapons straight at Evangeline.
Marky had also changed her own appearance, making it look like she had been overtaken by some dark force. Rinne had leaned into the act, playing the part flawlessly.
Yuria, who had been monitoring the situation while pretending to be knocked out, orchestrated everything behind the scenes as the command center of the operation.
It was a trinity in perfect sync, all to stop Evangeline from reaching the final destination before time was up—all to secure the Gourmet Research Society’s operational funds.
The performance had gone beyond acting.
It had become reality.
