The Scheming Ex-Husband's Courtship-Chapter 511 - 454: Lost the Wife and the Troops

Chapter 511

Chapter 511: Chapter 454: Lost the Wife and the Troops
Zhuo Yuqing shuddered at the thought of her brother Zhuo Yao exploding in rage upon learning about this matter. Knowing his temperament, if things didn’t end up satisfactorily resolved, he would certainly bring her back from Aus City, and the marriage would likely be off.
And until now, she still hadn’t received a call from her dad, which meant that he might have already forgiven Bai Chengxi. Besides catching a cold, what exactly had Bai Chengxi done to make her father change his mind?
No matter what he did, Zhuo Yuqing felt that this man was so dependable. In the midst of this scandal that shocked the whole country, he had always protected her from any harm.
How could she not love such a man, and how could she not be moved by him?
"Qingzi, although your dad was very angry after seeing those news s, he let it go after venting his anger. He even told Chengxi that he wants to arrive in Aus City a day earlier for your wedding and give you an unexpected dowry," Qiao San seemed to breathe a sigh of relief. Being caught between her daughter, her husband, and her son-in-law had been tough on her.
"Really? I knew Dad wasn’t unreasonable."
"How is Chengxi? Hasn’t he been frozen to death, right?" Qiao San asked with concern.
"He’s fine, still not up yet." Zhuo Yuqing didn’t tell Qiao San about Bai Chengxi’s fever to prevent her from feeling guilty.
After another half-hour chat, the mother and daughter ended the call. Zhuo Yuqing turned around only to see Bai Chengxi looking at her with his dark eyes. He was still lying in bed, propping his head on an arm, looking quite contented. Now that the fever had subsided, he seemed much more spirited than he did the previous night.
Zhuo Yuqing slid open the glass door and stepped inside, first reaching out to touch his forehead. Finding his temperature similar to her own, she felt relieved: "The fever’s gone, but you still need to take some cold medicine."
Before she could finish, she was pulled into a broad embrace, and the man, despite being sick, began his conquest filled with intense desire, not caring at all about his own conditions.
Zhuo Yuqing was half resisting, half complying and was just about to yield to him when her stomach inopportunely grumbled twice. In the quiet morning, the sound was quite abrupt.
She blushed instantly, burying her head in his chest.
Bai Chengxi laughed out loud, cupping her face and giving her a peck: "Hungry?"
Zhuo Yuqing was too embarrassed to look at him, especially as their intimate moment was interrupted by her growling stomach. However, she really was a bit hungry, and she wondered why she was so quickly hungry again after having eaten so much the night before.
"Silly girl." Bai Chengxi tousled her hair and pulled her up from the bed, "Come on, let’s go downstairs for breakfast."
"Bai Chengxi, you’re not allowed to laugh." Zhuo Yuqing clung to his arm, "As if your stomach never growls."
Bai Chengxi snorted with laughter: "Actually, it never has."
"I’m not talking to you anymore." Zhuo Yuqing huffed forcefully, her face flushed as she turned to leave, but he caught her in an embrace.
"Okay, don’t be mad. If you want to hear my stomach growl, I’ll go hungry for three days just to let it sing for you." His gentle words quickly dissolved her irritation. He couldn’t bear to go hungry for three days, and she was ever more reluctant to let him.
The couple went downstairs laughing, and Aunt Tian had already prepared breakfast.
Zhuo Yuqing sat down at the dining table, seeing a portion for two at her usual spot, and thinking it was for Bai Chengxi, she was about to switch it with the one in front of him when Aunt Tian quickly intervened: "Madam, that’s for you."
"Ah? But I can’t eat that much." Zhuo Yuqing’s usual appetite was only half of that.
"You can manage, you can manage." Aunt Tian chuckled, her eyes seemingly harboring some secret as she urged Zhuo Yuqing to eat.
"Aren’t you hungry? Eat up." Bai Chengxi had already elegantly started his meal with chopsticks.
Unable to refuse Aunt Tian’s enthusiasm, Zhuo Yuqing began to eat. What she thought she could never finish, she ended up polishing off entirely, surprising even herself at how good her appetite had become all of a sudden.
"Hehe." Aunt Tian let out that strange laugh again, confusing Zhuo Yuqing even more.
Bai Chengxi, however, didn’t pay it any mind, glancing at his watch: "I need to go back to the office for a bit."
"Mhm." Zhuo Yuqing cradled her cup of milk, "The editor-in-chief gave me a vacation, so I can be lazy for a few days."
"Weren’t you up for deputy editor?"
"Probably no chance now." Zhuo Yuqing shrugged her shoulders, "There’ll be other opportunities to compete. Let it be this time."
