Chapter 51: They Caught Me...?
Zylus’s roommate back in the Demon Realm now appeared before him. Judging by how coldly he stepped towards Zylus, Jace was definitely the one who caused the disappearance of everyone within the academy’s halls.
Jace wore separate clothes from those he had back then; it was the clothes granted by the academy, a tucked-in set of blue leather noble attire.
"What did you do...?" Zylus paused. "Jace."
He then lifted his katana towards the right, preparing for a neat, swift kill.
"Relax," Jace raised his hands, surrendering. "I’m the person you guys commanded to help spit out information." He started walking down towards Zylus, his glare intensified.
"But they said it’s a human who we used..." Zylus added, "Not a Demon-if you’re even a Demon at all." He lowered his stance, pulling his weapon backwards, ready for a clean hit.
"In truth, Zylus, I’m a human." Jace said, "They allowed me inside the cadet course. How else would you think they would let me in and out? Especially considering I’m here now and know your current stance."
Zylus loosened his grip on the katana.
"Fair enough. Any suspicious activity you found yet?" He asked.
"Not so far, I just recently came here," Jace responded, his tone calm and sharp as he began walking to the left side of the staircase.
"Alright. My system technique is going to wear off, so I should disable it now," Jace said, his systemic flow suddenly shut off to absolutely nothing.
With that, everyone appeared once more, and the same happened with the chatter as Zylus and Jace parted ways.
"Let’s go to class."
"We have time, relax."
Two women on the left of Zylus were deciding if they wanted or did not want to attend class so early.
"Hey, Clare," Zylus whispered, trying to see if her voice was still in attendance.
"What’s up?" She responded almost immediately.
"Remember-," As Zylus was about to ask her something, Eldra came rushing in to his side, her chest squished onto his abs.
"Zylus!" Eldra excitedly said, "Let’s go to class, it’s about to start in fifteen minutes, let’s get our seats."
"Fifteen?" Zylus wondered out loud, "Interesting... that would mean Jace somehow stopped time while I was speaking with him."
"What?"
"It’s nothing, let’s go to class." He said, finally reaching the top of the second floor.
As both of them continued walking side by side, the same two bullies from yesterday, now with Lucas, walked on their right with bruises shown on each one of their faces, taped with bandages.
Lucas’s once noble appeal, his longish, blonde, tied hair matched with his sparkling purple eyes. Now, though, it would seem as though those lovely looks have gone to waste, with the ugly bruises that he got against Fred.
"Grrr," Lucas growled. He hated the fact that Zylus was getting so close to Eldra. "We have to come up with a way to kill that bastard."
Zylus quickly stared them down with a smirk, the two bullies nervously looked away, but Lucas gave him an opposite raging look, one that defines ’True hatred.’
"Fred sure messed you up pretty badly, didn’t he?" Zylus giggled, leaving them with that one message, as Lucas simply chiseled his teeth together
Zylus and Eldra finally made it to class, and Fred sat at the far corner, as always. While Eldra tried seducing Zylus into sitting next to her.
"No, I’m fine," Zylus said, "I’ll go sit there today." He pointed at a seat in the very back, surrounded by no one, not even Fred.
The teacher finally made his way into class, but Lucas and the other two didn’t come in, and the bell rang.
Whispers tensed the room. Each of them was curious about where Lucas could’ve been...
"Skipping after he lost? I would do that, that was embarrassing."
"And I thought he was strong."
With that said, Zylus closely tucked into his chair; no one sat quite near him, but Fred was also alone, in the far left corner.
"Surprised he’s already conscious," Zylus whispered, realizing how much force the move Fred used drained him.
"Attendance complete. Please remain silent," Mr. Cruz said, clearly annoyed at being stuck in a boring class already. He was clearly the type to love fights but hate education.
That’s when Zylus felt slight trouble, and a ring came from the announcements as everybody stopped what they were doing, including the teacher.
"Attention, all students!" It was a different voice; it had a joyous tone to it, but Zylus couldn’t tell who it was specifically. "There’s a demon who infiltrated our school!"
And just then, time seemed to slow for Zylus, "They couldn’t have caught me." He whispered, shocked.
The entire room panicked. Zylus even heard screams from other classrooms, but the person speaking into the speakers made sure to calm everyone else down.
"Worry not," he said, a nervous tingle climbed onto Zylus’s skin, "We’ve already found a culprit."
Just then, everyone seemed to calm, but Zylus and his glare shared a scene of horror.
"Hey, Clare," Zylus whispered as chatter filled the room.
"What’s up?" She responded, food being stuffed into her mouth in the process.
"They caught me," Zylus then paused, "Rather, remember the time I disabled the relic? Yeah," He nervously shook, a bead of sweat ran down his face, "They definitely sensed it."
Clare then dropped everything she was doing, making sure that no one was around spying, "Zylus, it might be time you abandon your mission."
"But it’s definitely a bluff," Zylus responded, "They could’ve sensed my aura, but definitely not who it was specifically."
"No, Zylus," Clare frantically paused, "It’s too dangerous, get out, now. I’ll be able to remove all records of you inserted into the school, but leave."
Zylus shook his head as if she was there watching him, "No, Clare, I’m not leaving." He couldn’t live with the fact that he had already failed, "They will never be able to tell it was me."
Clare let out a sigh of disturbance, "Fine, but anything more, and I’m taking you out." She then slammed down on her table, "But listen, Zylus, you have to remember one thing."
"What is it?"
"You can’t care about others. They’re humans, they aren’t your kind."
"Okay," Zylus replied quietly.
