Chapter 105: Stormy Night
The two seemed to quietly understand each other as they enjoyed the peaceful night on the island.
Thinking that they were leaving tomorrow, Rong Xingyu suddenly felt a faint unwillingness inside.
Who knew that the sea was calm now, but later in the night, a terrible storm would sweep across this area with destructive force.
Rong Xingyu was woken up by a thunderclap that shook the sky.
He opened his eyes sharply on the bed and at the same time, the lightning outside the window lit up the room as bright as daytime.
Then came another thunder, each one louder than the last.
Rong Xingyu felt his ears ringing from the shock.
He raised his hand to turn on the light in the room, but the light didn’t come on.
He bit his lip and, using the flashes of lightning to see, he walked barefoot to the window and forced it shut against the heavy rain.
The strong wind slammed the window over and over and the raindrops hitting the glass made loud tapping sounds.
Rong Xingyu sat on the edge of the bed and lifted his hands, wanting to cover his ears.
Right then, he suddenly heard someone knocking on his door.
Rong Xingyu opened the door and saw Ding Yixin standing outside holding a candlestick.
"Yuyu, were you scared just now?" Ding Yixin asked with concern.
When he looked down and saw Rong Xingyu standing barefoot on the cold floor.
His brows tightened slightly and said. "The floor is cold. Go put on your shoes."
Rong Xingyu answered in a dazed voice.
Ding Yixin held up the candlestick for him and Rong Xingyu found his slippers by the bed.
"This storm came very suddenly. The island lost power. We probably can’t leave tomorrow," Ding Yixin said.
The lightning outside had weakened, but the thunder and the fierce wind were still roaring.
Ding Yixin placed the candlestick on the table.
The warm yellow flame flickered gently, giving people a sense of safety on such a stormy night.
When Ding Yixin turned around, he finally noticed that Rong Xingyu’s shirt and hair had been soaked by the rain earlier when he closed the window.
With his wet bangs pushed aside, Rong Xingyu’s smooth and pretty forehead was revealed.
Ding Yixin frowned even more deeply.
He went to the cabinet, found clean clothes and a towel, and told Rong Xingyu to dry himself and change.
Rong Xingyu: ...
Was he supposed to change his clothes right here in front of him?
Thinking of that, Rong Xingyu’s ears quietly turned red.
He took the pajamas and the towel and walked into the bathroom.
The bathroom door was frosted glass.
Rong Xingyu stood inside.
He was just about to take off his clothes when he saw Ding Yixin standing at the doorway, holding up the candlestick for him.
The light passed through the frosted glass, so the bathroom was not completely dark.
Even though he knew Ding Yixin could not see anything, Rong Xingyu still couldn’t stop his face from turning hot.
He quickly took off his wet shirt, dried his body and changed into the clean pajamas.
When Rong Xingyu came out of the bathroom, his ears were still red.
He lowered his head and suddenly he felt something fall onto his head.
It was a towel.
Then the towel began to gently rub his hair.
Dr. Ding was helping him dry his hair.
After he realized this, Rong Xingyu’s heartbeat suddenly stumbled for a moment.
He felt as if something inside him was about to break through the surface.
After drying his hair, Ding Yixin looked at him.
"Go to sleep early, Yuyu." He raised his hand and lightly touched Rong Xingyu’s newly dried hair, speaking softly, "Don’t worry. The power will come back tomorrow."
Ding Yixin only turned around to leave after he saw Rong Xingyu obediently lie down on the bed.
He had just taken a step when he felt his coat being pulled.
A small pale hand was holding onto the edge of his clothes.
Rong Xingyu looked at Ding Yixin’s back and whispered, "Dr. Ding, can you not go?"
...
Outside, th lightning and thunder still filled the sky.
At that moment, a flash of lightning crossed the horizon and lit up Rong Xingyu’s face.
Ding Yixin felt the hand gripping his clothes grow even more tense.
He sighed softly.
His eyes held a deep, unreadable look when he turned toward Rong Xingyu. "Yuyu, do you know what you’re saying?"
Rong Xingyu bit his lip.
"I... I’m a little scared." His dark eyes were filled with a soft shimmer, looking pitiful and fragile. He spoke in a small voice, "Can you stay with me a little longer?"
Ding Yixin stood with his back facing the candlelight, his face hidden in the dim glow.
Rong Xingyu couldn’t see his expression clearly and after saying these words, he felt nervous inside.
But he could feel Ding Yixin’s gaze resting on his face.
Rong Xingyu couldn’t help biting his lip harder, making his already pale lips turn darker.
Ding Yixin stared at his lips for a long moment before he finally said, "Alright."
He sat down on the single sofa in the room, facing Rong Xingyu’s bed directly.
"Sleep, Yuyu," Ding Yixin said. "I’ll go back after you fall asleep."
Rong Xingyu grabbed the blanket and nodded obediently.
He closed his eyes, wanting to fall asleep quickly.
But Ding Yixin’s presence was too strong.
And with another person suddenly in the room, it was hard to relax.
Rong Xingyu kept his eyes tightly closed, his eyelashes trembling fast.
The sleepiness he had earlier disappeared completely and now Rong Xingyu simply could not fall asleep at all.
He didn’t know how much time passed.
Outside, the storm showed no sign of stopping.
The wind and rain only grew stronger and stronger.
Rong Xingyu quietly opened his eyes.
He saw Ding Yixin changing a new candle into the burned-out candlestick.
When Ding Yixin turned around, he saw Rong Xingyu holding onto the blanket, lying very properly on the bed, but his eyes were narrowed, like a small animal secretly peeking this way.
