Chapter 59: Dinner Invitation
Rong Xingyu was sure he had never met him in his life.
But just as that boy was about to leave, he suddenly stopped when he saw Rong Xingyu, then hurriedly stepped aside and even held the door open for him.
Rong Xingyu blinked his eyes feeling a bit confused but still he walked in and nodded his head politely in thanks.
However, the boy’s face immediately turned red and stammered loudly, "N-no need to thank me!"
Rong Xingyu: "???"
Only then did he start to realize something wasn’t right.
Especially when, after he sat down in a quiet corner of the cafeteria, he could still feel a few glances landing on him from time to time.
It’s casual, fleeting, but unmistakably there.
They weren’t rude or invasive and those looks disappeared as soon as he noticed them, yet he couldn’t help but feel uneasy.
Across from him, Qian Zhijun didn’t even lift his head from his phone as he muttered lazily, "Just ignore them. They’re all idiots."
Rong Xingyu hesitated for a moment before replying softly, "...Oh."
He obediently went back to eating and quietly picking at his food.
Meanwhile, Qian Zhijun skillfully logged onto Qibao Dwith School’s online forum and navigated straight to the "School Belle Voting Page."
He then casually checked in before casting all his votes for "Ariel."
Next to the name "Ariel" was none other than a high definition photo of Rong Xingyu from the school anniversary performance.
It was taken from the stage under the spotlight which make him look beautiful and unforgettable.
The night after the event ended, someone had secretly added a new "candidate" to the school’s ongoing beauty poll and it didn’t take long for chaos to spread across the forum.
Even more shocking, "Ariel" had become incredibly popular overnight.
In just a few days, his votes had skyrocketed, putting him among the top contenders and it was clear that taking first place was only a matter of time.
Because if "Ariel" was famous, then Rong Xingyu himself had become the center of Qibao Dwith School’s attention.
His popularity over the past week had been nothing short of unbelievable.
Right now, out of ten posts on the school forum, at least eight people were talking about Rong Xingyu and the remaining two were about "Ariel."
Qian Zhijun scrolled through the forum for a while and soon found a newly pinned post asking what kind of boys Rong Xingyu liked and if it was possible for a boy to date him.
Qian Zhijun: "..."
Without hesitation, he clicked .
What the hell? He thought furiously. How dare some random toad even think about chasing after Xingyu!
In the "Reason for " section, Qian Zhijun angrily typed out over three hundred words before hitting "Submit."
Feeling proud of his righteous act, he exited the forum, only to hear Rong Xingyu suddenly ask him what kind of gift would be good to give someone in return.
Qian Zhijun froze.
A gift? For who? Why was he giving someone a gift? Something was definitely up.
Rong Xingyu blinked his eyes innocently and explained, "A friend of mine recently gave me a present that I really liked. He’s helped me a lot before too, so I was thinking maybe I should give him something back."
Honestly, Rong Xingyu had originally planned to refuse the gift.
But what his "friend" had given him was a full set of advanced competition materials.
It was specialized workbooks, reference notes, and problem sets.
All of them is rare editions that he had been searching for but couldn’t find anywhere.
And, of course, the friend who had given them to him was none other than Dr. Ding.
Just as Dr. Ding had said, the gift was way too good to turn down.
"...So that’s the situation," Rong Xingyu said softly.
Qian Zhijun stared at him for a long moment before finally asking, "So, does this friend of yours... need anything? Something he might like?"
But from what Rong Xingyu had just described, it sounded like this "friend" was the kind of person who already had everything.
Sure enough, Rong Xingyu sighed and shook his head. "That’s the problem. He doesn’t lack anything. I don’t know what I could possibly give him."
Qian Zhijun thought for a while before suggesting, "For someone like that, expensive gifts probably won’t impress him. A handmade one might mean more. Something small but personal. You’re good at cooking, maybe you could make him something like..."
He was about to say "cookies" or "a small cake," but before he could finish, Rong Xingyu’s eyes suddenly lit up.
He clapped his hands together and said, "That’s right! I can invite him over for dinner at my house!"
It just so happened that Dr. Ding had once mentioned he wanted to try Rong Xingyu’s cooking.
"Thank you, Zhijun! I know what to do now!"
Qian Zhijun: "???"
What the hell? How did this turn into inviting him to your house? He definitely didn’t say that!
...
It was supposed to be a calm weekend, but somehow things had developed into something completely unexpected.
Rong Xingyu sat properly on the sofa at home, lips pressed together and both of his hands neatly folded on his knees.
He looked like the very picture of obedience.
But sitting next to him, Rong Zishan’s posture was the complete opposite, he looked casual and domineering.
He had one arm thrown lazily over the back of the sofa, his leg bouncing slightly as he leaned back like some lord of the house.
However, the lazy pose didn’t match the expression on his face at all, his eyes were narrowed and he looked like he was holding back a storm of irritation and resentment.
As if he might lose his temper any second and throw the man out the door Rong Zishan’s sharp gaze was locked on the man sitting across from them.
It was Ding Yixin.
But Ding Yixin, under this deadly glare, sat calmly and unmoved.
He slowly lifted his teacup, took a sip, and looked so composed that it almost felt like he was the real master of this house.
...Such a perfect example of the guest acting like the host.
