Chapter 387: And That Was The First Smile
[TAMIKO]
"Happy crazy hour... your majesty," Kosta mocked spitefully. His tone was so cruel that Tamiko had to turn and see for himself if this was the man he had loved and still loved. But when he turned, all he saw was emptiness in Kosta’s eyes.
There was no life there, and Tamiko knew why. He understood it too well, and there wasn’t much that he could do about it. He hated himself for leaving in the first place and damn was an apology sitting pretty on his lips.
Maybe if he apologized enough times, Kosta wouldn’t leave again. But then Kosta hadn’t been the one who had left first.
Kosta had been forced to leave.
Kosta had been pushed into leaving.
He had been fucking blackmailed and Tamiko knew that too. Maybe that’s why he watched helplessly as Erasthai walked away with the one man they both hated. This was hell, and Tamiko hadn’t even started on the madness yet.
Perhaps he would lose his mind going over everything, no?
"I’m so sorry, my precious," Tamiko tried, and this time, his voice came out, almost like he had been trying for hours, and the fates finally decided to let him see as there wasn’t much he could do about it anymore.
Outside, Kosta heard him. He heard Tamiko apologize, but he willed himself to keep moving with Sanji. He didn’t want to go back to Tamiko because he wasn’t sure if that was just another trap for him.
He didn’t want to run back because he was scared that Tamiko wouldn’t choose him again. Of course, they were both loyal to the kingdom, but Tamiko could have at least explained properly why he had to leave.
He could have said how long Kosta would wait. But he didn’t. He never even thought about what that word meant. And now they were stuck in regrets and shit that they hadn’t said ten years ago.
Tamiko was suffering, but so was Kosta, and angrily, Kosta shifted into his black Lycan and made it for the border they had created – the one show of where the new Kawai ended.
He didn’t need to listen to Tamiko or even Sanji. Sanji didn’t even try to fight him on this, instead, he watched as the Lycan Chief ran away from him and Tamiko. He understood Kosta.
"Hey kid, you look like shit. You should probably get yourself checked out by your father," Sanji said once Kosta had left and it took everything in Tamiko not to lash out at the man.
He didn’t want to be pushed even further by Kosta but fuck was it agonizing that of all the people Kosta could have turned to, he had to go for Sanji. The one man he had no loyalties. It is maddening.
"I could kill you and you wouldn’t be able to do shit," Tamiko warned darkly and Sanji just stared at him amusedly like this was just another day for him.
He didn’t care that he was a wounded kid, because Tamiko had already fucked him over and it was all just a matter of time before his life came to a dramatic end anyway.
"Yeah, but you won’t," Sanji sneered.
"What?" Tamiko asked coldly.
"I said you could kill me, but you won’t. See, the thing is, your majesty... anyone with eyes can see you’re still in love with MY omega. And you definitely don’t want to push him any further.
"We both know that if you hurt me, he will never forgive you. If you lay a hand on me, MY omega will hate you for the rest of his life. If you try to manipulate me, he will come and fight you, for me.
"He loves me and as much as it kills you, you can’t do shit about it, so how about you go back to daddy dearest and get yourself psyched up? You look like you walked out of a horror setting, hmm?" Sanji said proudly, his disdain for Tamiko was his own, but then it was a character he was playing.
He had to do his best until Kosta was ready to face Tamiko again.
Sanji knew that this couldn’t have been easy for both of them, but what the hell was he supposed to do with them? They needed to face each other, but the pain they had both been feeling had long clouded their sanity.
Nothing was the same anymore.
Nothing felt right anymore.
This was a kind of hell that didn’t even make it any easier for them to deal with.
But they had to deal with it.
Eventually, the skies would have to make way for them.
They needed to be ready for anything.
"For the rest of his life?" Tamiko asked after a long, uncomfortable silence, and Sanji glared at him.
"You’re insensitive as fuck. Are you deaf too?" Sanji asked like he didn’t want to even be here. Perhaps he is trying to tell the prince to back off, or maybe he just wanted to get this over and done with.
The Furfantes hadn’t reached out to him in ten years, not even the Lycans who were in Kawai, and it worried Sanji. They were all traitors. The three of them, so why was it so easy for them to skip the house and act like this wasn’t the perfect time for them to strike?
Having Igor this disheveled and on their side was something that neither of the Furfantes had ever been ready for. But what the fuck was it going to be for them? Or was Sanji supposed to sit and wait for his friends to come seeking him out?
Or was it that easy for him to be abandoned?
Perhaps like Tamiko had abandoned Kosta, right?
"So, it was your idea," Tamiko mused, but nothing was amusing about the way he stirred at Sanji. His face was emotionless, and yet his voice held a different type of conviction this time.
It was almost like Sanji was suddenly the prey, even though he had Kosta by his side. It was like the world was closing in on him just when he had gotten the breath of life. Was that something he could play games with this time?
Oh, but Sanji was confused.
He wasn’t sure how they had ended up here, but he knew that this wasn’t the right place for him to be. So, he began walking away from the prince, desperate not to be his victim.
And yet, as Tamiko casually followed him, the warriors long gone, Tamiko had found a bone to bite, and he wasn’t about to let it go just like that. He would get his answers even if he were ten years late.
He would figure this shit out and more than anything, he would get his omega back. He would get Kosta back, even if he had to grovel before the Chief a thousand and one times.
"You can’t run from me, Sanji, you know that, right?" Tamiko laughed and Sanji just ignored him, desperate to get to where Kosta was. They were getting further from the shelter, which was not good for Sanji. This was crazy and he knew it too.
"I don’t know what you’re saying," Sanji mustered as he stared at Tamiko.
Perhaps he figured he couldn’t outrun a determined psychotic ice prince.
But what about the smirk on Tamiko’s face?
"Tell Kosta to brace himself well for this new war," Tamiko said before disappearing.
