Chapter 388: You Wanna Play... Let’s Play, Love
[TAMIKO]
There were so many things that had happened in Tamiko’s life, so many mistakes he had made along the way, but of all those mistakes, there was only one he was going to fight tooth and nail to see fixed.
He didn’t care if it meant his Erasthai would hate him, or his aunt would have his head; he didn’t care. Even if he had to fight his father, the Furfantes, or even the entire Kawai while at it.
He was not going to waste any more time. He had fucked up and he knew it. So, he had to work shit out in the right way. Maybe he was crazy for this, but Igor Konstantin was his life.
Igor Konstantin was the man he loved without even knowing what love had been. He was the first man Tamiko had ever truly given a romantic damn about and the only Lycan for that matter.
There were so many things that he had fucked up, but this time, Tamiko wasn’t going settle for his Erasthai staying at the borders because of him. Perhaps that’s why he had rung the Kawai assembly bell.
The one bell that not even the traitors and the defiant Lycans of Kawai would dare to ignore.
It was the one bell that signified an urgent announcement, usually the king’s, which was interesting because Zaffuto Hinata himself was shell-shocked when he heard the royal bell ring.
"Was that you?" King Zaffuto asked his brother, who was walking beside him, and Danny as they went to the assembly grounds. It was so sudden and something that could have made the Lycans feel like a war was coming.
Frankly, it wasn’t much to hope for, really, because the Lycan Chief had sent the warriors home to their families.
Maybe this was a reminder that the decision had even been falsified, or maybe that it wasn’t a tactical one, and that there were people who had come to attack them again.
"Me? I thought it was you, hell, I was wondering if this was about Yilena again," Sadako said as he looked at his brother, who stared at him like they had not lost their minds.
"Tamiko has been pissy these past few days, and especially today after Sanji’s announcement. Who knows... Maybe he rang the bell," Danny said, and the two royals facepalmed before they portaled to the assembly ground.
It was crazy how fast everyone had gotten assembled. Then again, the bell had run ten times, which screamed urgency according to the Kawai accords. It was not something to play about, and it was saddening at the same time.
This was crazy, and yet the one who had called the assembly sat at the podium, his head held high, even though he was covered in his blood.
He reeked of regrets and bad decisions, and there was no doubt that what was about to come out of his mouth would be one too. Then again, what else was left of the prince who had lost the one man that anchored him to Kawai and all that royalty meant then?
"Care to explain the bells, son?" King Zaffuto asked as he sat beside his son.
While Zaffuto had tried to convince Tamiko to be crowned, the kid had insisted that the only way he took that damn seat was if he had eliminated every threat against his Erasthai.
And that meant that they would only happen if they flattened Grealor.
Perhaps that’s what this was about.
After ten years, maybe Tamiko was finally open to discuss the pack that had taken everything from him, the pack that had deprived him of love, and the same pack that had taken so much from the Lycans of Kawai.
It was no secret that Tamiko wanted Grealor burned to the ground, but with this assembly, there were so many assumptions.
"I missed the people of Kawai, Papa. Look at them, all healthy, even with warriors who were at the borders. I figured I could call for a meeting and see how everyone was doing.
"It is the best idea so far, don’t you think?" Tamiko asked as he stared at the empty seat beside him.
The seat that belonged to his Erasthai, and not just any Erasthai. The man who was playing checkers with his heart. Granted, Kosta’s reactions and retaliation were justified, but Tamiko refused to land into a decision that screamed delusions.
The decision Kosta had made to side with Sanjiro was the most fucked up decision ever. Hell, Tamiko would have forgiven Kosta for coming after his father or selling out Kawai, but going with Sanjiro?
That was outrageous.
Then again, for Tamiko, no man would ever be good enough for his Kosta. He was the love of Kosta’s life, and if someone needed that reminder, Tamiko wasn’t opposed to sending it to them with so many good regards, right?
"You rang the bell, the times, because you missed the people of Kawai?" King Zaffuto asked, and Tamiko smiled sheepishly while his father wondered if this was the phrase he was told by Sadako.
The Lycan Lord, on the other hand, looked more than amused. He had seen the way that Tamiko had reacted to being apart from Konstantin, and they all knew that that had been a ticking time bomb.
Perhaps the kid finally exploded, right?
Well, he couldn’t be blamed.
The adults had tricked him, and for ten years, Tamiko hadn’t once retaliated. He had taken all the hits like it was meant for him. But maybe this time, he was done sitting on the sidelines.
"Maybe I should throw a party for them? I mean, the warriors have been out there for three years without the families who have worked a little too hard. You and Uncle can fortify the borders of Kawai with your magic, and Danny and I can go have fun like the kids we are.
"Maybe, if I’m lucky enough, Kosta will want to dance with me, or look in my direction without wanting to die. Or maybe I should make everyone bow to Kosta for making the borders safer for ten years?
"Ah, papa, I have so many good ideas, and I am only waiting for the Lycan Chief to come. If he shows up, we might have a party... He’s going to show up, right?" Tamiko sailed, adding the last bit slowly like he wasn’t certain Kosta would answer his call.
Then again, Kosta didn’t know if this was the king’s call or the prince’s call. It didn’t matter who was where when the bell rang ten times. They had to show up at the assembly and listen because it was probably a matter of life and death.
"Is this... Lycan puberty?" King Zaffuto whispered to his brother, who couldn’t help but snicker at the king. Logically, Lycans were considered mature at the age of five hundred, so perhaps he was right with this one.
Tamiko was devious and defiant at the same time. He was still a blooming young Lycan, and by all laws, he was just a kid, possibly a teenager of sorts according to the aging system. But then it wasn’t like anyone was counting, yeah?
"Your majesty," Kosta greeted the king, having just portaled in in his official attire.
And boy did he look heavenly...
Even with Sanji beside him.
