Chapter 105: Just For Your Safety!
"Brother? Are you in there? I’m hungry!"
Lila’s small voice was right outside the door, impatient. Elias’s heart slammed against his ribs. He could hear his sister’s voice right outside the door, but he couldn’t say a word. He couldn’t reply since his mouth was busy. He tried to pull away, but Viktor’s arms stayed locked around his waist like steel bands. Viktor’s tongue twirled the inside of Elias’s mouth, sucking his tongue and lips.
"Viktor," Elias hissed, voice barely above a whisper as he pulled back, "let go. She’s right there."
"I know. I can hear her calling out to you,"
Viktor said and didn’t move. Instead, he dipped his head and pressed his lips to the side of Elias’s neck. A slow, open-mouthed kiss that made Elias’s knees go weak. He felt his pants getting tight. As Viktor grabbed his waist and pressed his body against his, he could feel Viktor’s hard cock.
"Viktor—"
Another kiss, lower this time, just above the collarbone. Then teeth. Not hard enough to break skin, but enough to make Elias gasp loudly and immediately shut his mouth so that he wouldn’t make a sound. Viktor sucked his skin gently, leaving a wet, warm spot that he knew would bloom into a dark bruise.
Elias’s hands flew to Viktor’s shoulders, half-pushing, half-clinging.
"Stop, she’ll hear..."
"Let her hear," Viktor murmured against his skin, voice rough. "I’m just saying a quick hello."
He moved again, lips trailing up to the soft spot behind Elias’s ear. Another kiss. Another gentle bite. Another mark. Elias’s breath came in short, shaky bursts. Heat was pooling low in his stomach, fast and dizzying.
"Brother? Hellooooo?"
Lila knocked again, harder this time.
Elias shoved at Viktor’s chest with real force now. "I said stop!"
Viktor finally lifted his head, eyes dark and amused. "Fine. I’ll stop for now,"
Elias stumbled back, chest heaving. His neck and ear were throbbing. He could already feel the heat of the marks forming.
"You’re insane," he whispered, grabbing a thick hoodie from the chair. "You’re an absolute pervert."
Viktor leaned against the wall, arms crossed, watching Elias yank the hoodie over his head with a lazy smirk. "I didn’t do anything. You kissed me first."
"That was to make you shut up!"
"Didn’t work, did it?"
Elias glared, face burning. "Get out."
Viktor opened his mouth to argue, but Lila’s voice cut through again.
"I’m coming in if you don’t answer!"
Elias panicked. He grabbed Viktor by the front of his shirt, shoved him toward the door, and practically kicked him out into the hallway.
"Stay out there and behave!" he snapped, slamming the door shut and locking it.
Viktor and Lila stood outside as they exchanged glances with each other.
"So you were with my brother..." Lila asked.
"So... You were the one disturbing..." He replied with a grin.
"Disturbing? Disturbing what?"
"Don’t worry. Let’s go," Viktor ruffled her hair as they walked back to the living room.
.
Elias leaned against the door for more than a minute, breathing hard. His reflection in the small mirror on the wall showed exactly what he feared: red lips, flushed cheeks, and a chain of fresh hickeys. The old ones from his heat had almost faded. Now there were new ones. They were darker and far more obvious.
"Great," he muttered. "Just great."
He showered fast with cold water, trying to calm his body down. When he came out twenty minutes later, hair still damp, he was wearing the thickest hoodie he owned and a pair of loose joggers. There was no way he would let anyone see those marks.
The living room hit him like a freezer.
Not because of the new air conditioner.
Because of the two alphas staring at each other like they were one wrong word away from throwing punches.
Rowan was sitting on the couch, arms crossed, jaw tight.
Viktor was leaning against the wall near the kitchen, hands in his pockets, eyes cold.
Lila sat cross-legged on the floor, completely unbothered, playing a game on the new tablet someone definitely bought her.
Elias cleared his throat. "Uh... dinner?"
Rowan stood up immediately. "Do you need help?"
"Yeah," Elias said quickly, heading for the kitchen. "Come on."
Rowan followed. Viktor’s eyes tracked them the whole way.
In the kitchen, Elias pulled out potatoes and chicken. Rowan rolled up his sleeves, tattoos flashing under the light.
"I can chop," Rowan said, grabbing a knife. "You season."
They worked side by side. Rowan’s knife moved fast and clean. Elias stirred the pot, trying to focus on the food and not the tension.
"So," Rowan said quietly, "Viktor Drago just... shows up at your place?"
Elias sighed. "It’s complicated."
"Complicated how?"
"He... helped with some stuff. That’s all."
Rowan glanced at him. "You don’t owe him anything, you know."
"I know."
They cooked in silence for a minute. The chicken sizzled. Rowan flipped it easily. He stared at Elias one more time. He never thought there would be a day that he would be cooking with Elias.
"You look happy," Rowan said suddenly, just to break the silence.
Elias blinked. "What?"
"When you smile at me. You look happy."
Elias felt his chest tighten. "I am always happy. Well, sometimes."
Rowan smiled softly. "That’s good."
From the living room, Viktor’s voice cut through.
"Lila."
Lila looked up. "Yeah?"
"Your brother," Viktor said, eyes still on Elias in the kitchen, "is he always this friendly with everyone?"
Lila tilted her head. "Yep. He smiles at everyone. He’s nice like that."
Viktor’s jaw flexed. "And before? When you were little. What was he like?"
Lila put the tablet down. "He was silly. He’s always trying to make Mom and Dad proud. He’d do anything for us."
Viktor frowned. "Anything?"
Lila nodded. "He’s not really my brother, you know. Not by blood. Mom found him when she was pregnant with me. He was alone. Tiny. He didn’t remember anything from his last so they took him in. That’s how he became my big brother."
Viktor went very still.
Lila kept talking, swinging her legs. "He worked so hard to fit in. Never complained. Even when kids at school were mean. He just wanted to belong."
Viktor’s voice was quieter now.
"What happened to his real family?"
Lila shrugged. "He doesn’t know. He doesn’t remember. I told you he was alone until Mom and Dad found him."
Viktor stared at the floor for a long moment. Then he reached over and ruffled Lila’s hair gently.
"I’ll take care of both of you," he said. "Promise."
Lila smiled big. "Okay!"
Viktor stood up and walked into the kitchen like a man on a mission.
"I’ll help," Viktor cut in, stepping between Elias and Rowan.
Rowan raised an eyebrow. "We’ve got it. You don’t need to."
"I insist."
Elias sighed. "Viktor, we’re fine... besides,.."
"Dinner’s ready," Elias said loudly, turning off the stove. "Let’s head to the living room since there’s no dining table. We’ll eat on the floor."
They carried the food out. Plates on the coffee table. Everyone sat in a loose circle.
Rowan took a bite. "This is good, Elias."
"Thanks."
Viktor ate in silence, watching.
When they finished, Rowan stretched. "Hey, Elias... mind if I crash here tonight? It’s late."
Viktor answered before Elias could open his mouth.
"No."
Rowan turned slowly. "Excuse me?"
"You heard me," Viktor said, voice calm but sharp. "No."
Rowan’s eyes narrowed. "I don’t care who you are or what mafia family you run. You don’t get to decide for him."
Viktor smiled, cold. "Funny. An alpha asking to sleep in an omega’s house. What exactly are you after?"
Rowan’s fork bent slightly in his hand. "I’m not after anything."
"Really?"
"Enough!" Elias stood up. "Both of you. No one is sleeping here. Not Rowan. Not Viktor. I have one bed. One couch. And a little sister. Figure it out yourselves."
Rowan looked at Elias, hurt flashing in his eyes. "You sure?"
Elias forced a smile. "Yeah. We’ll see each other at school tomorrow, okay?"
Rowan nodded slowly. He stood, grabbed his jacket.
As he passed Elias, he paused. His eyes dropped to Elias’s neck, just for a second, where the hoodie had shifted.
The hickeys were dark and fresh.
Rowan’s jaw tightened. He said nothing and just left.
The door clicked shut and silence followed.
Viktor leaned back, satisfied.
Elias glared at him, seeing that satisfied look on his face. "You’re an asshole."
Viktor shrugged. "He’ll live."
Lila yawned. "I’m going to bed."
She hugged Elias, waved at Viktor, and disappeared into her room.
Now it was just them.
Elias started cleaning up. Viktor watched.
"When do your exams finish?" Viktor asked.
"Two weeks."
Viktor nodded. "Good. We have time."
Elias stopped. "Time for what?"
Viktor stood, walked over, and stopped right in front of him.
"Something is coming," Viktor said quietly. "Before the year ends. I can’t tell you everything yet. But I need you and Lila safe."
Elias frowned. "Safe from what?"
Viktor’s hand came up, thumb brushing Elias’s cheek. "Just... trust me."
"Are you asking me to move into your estate?"
Viktor didn’t answer.
Elias stepped back. "I’m not going. I don’t know what’s going on, but I’m not leaving my home for something I know nothing about. You can’t make me."
Viktor’s eyes darkened. He grabbed Elias’s shoulder firmly but not painfully.
"This isn’t about wanting," Viktor said, voice low. "This is about keeping you alive. After it’s over, you can come back here. I swear."
Elias searched his face. "Then tell me what it is."
Viktor glanced toward the hallway, making sure Lila’s door was closed and Rowan was long gone.
He leaned in, lips almost touching Elias’s ear.
And whispered,..
